On March 27, 2014 at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), H.E Sok Chenda Sophea, Minister attached to the Prime Minister, Secretary General of the CDC and Cambodian delegation composed of representatives from concerned ministries received a courtesy call by Japanese delegation led by H.E Toshimitsu Motegi of Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry of Japan (METI). Accompanying METI Minster were Presidents or Directors General of 14 Japanese companies.
In his remark, H.E Sok Chenda Sophea he warmly welcomed the presence of METI delegation and commented that the presence of the delegation was not only a remarkable positive sign of Cambodia, but also a motivation to the management and staffs working at the CDC. He added that the CDC had long had a close relation with METI, Japanese Embassy to Cambodia, JICA and other Japan’s business associations. Overall, the CDC hailed the cooperation between the countries, Cambodia and Japan.
H.E. Toshimitsu Motegi highly appreciated H.E Sok Chenda Sophea and his colleagues for their hospitality. He informed that the purpose of the meeting was to strengthen and extending cooperation between the two countries on economy, trade and investment. He also expressed sincere thanks to H.E Sok Chenda Sophea for being co-chair of Cambodia-Japan Joint Committee and for hosting the Cambodia-Japan Public-Private Sector meetings so far.
H.E Toshimitus Motegi noted that in the context of ASEAN economic integration, Cambodia has a great potential. He also gave a remark that Japanese investments in Cambodia not only concentrated on real estate sectors, but truly diversified; for such a result, Japanese investments had direct impact on Cambodian economy. In this connection, H.E Toshimitsu Motegi had suggested that Cambodia continue to improve business and investment climate so as to further boost her trade and investment attraction. Meanwhile, he committed to continue to promote Cambodia to Japanese enterprises.
