Press Release of Labor Advisory Committee (MoLVT & LAC)
(October 19, 2006).
On October 19, 2006, the meeting of Labor Advisory Committee was held in the 2nd round at the Health Department of the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training. After having actively consulted, the Labor Advisory Committee agreed as follows:
1. The Minimum Wage for the workers-employees in Shoes, Textile and Garment factories shall be determined to be USD 45 per month for workers/employees working during the probationary period from 1 to 3 months. After the probationary period, the regular workers shall receive the minimum wage of US$50 per month.
2. For workers-employees who receive their wage based on piecework depends on the actual result. If the actual results of piecework show that the workers receive a wage more than the minimum wage as stipulated in the point 1 above, the excess wage shall prevail. If the workers receive a wage less than that, the probationary period workers shall receive the minimum wage of USD 45 per month and the regular workers shall receive the minimum wage of USD 50 per month.
3. Another benefits which have been received to date by the workers as stipulated in the Notification No.017SKBY, dated July 18, 2000 in the Articles 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 shall be kept the same.
The implementation and the new minimum wage as provided in the point 1 and 2 of the Press Release will be started and provided to the workers from January 1, 2007 until 2010.
